1) pre-REQUISITES:

THE SUN JRE 5.0 (JAVA RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT) OR UPPER MUST BE INSTALLED IN YOUR PC.

YOU CAN VERIFY THE JRE VERSION INSTALLED ON YOUR PC, IN THIS LINK
(Attention: If your intranet has a proxy installed, probably this applet fails to detect the JRE).

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE JRE 5.0 FROM http://java.sun.com OR, DIRECTLY, FROM THIS LINKS:

2) Download the software:

IME V4.1 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION PACKAGE includes the ISO19139 schema files ("Final release candidate for TS - 4 May 2006") that is published and updated in http://eden.ign.fr/xsd/isotc211.

IME can work with different schema files versions, so, when the final release will be published, only will be needed to update this schema files in the directory "schema19139" of the application. (See FAQ)

The ISO19139 FINAL release schema files will be available in this link: ISO.

WINDOWS:

Download the IME application release 4.1 ... August.2007 for Windows
Installation Instructions:
Run the setup file and follow the installation wizard windows to install IME.

LINUX:

Download the IME application release 4.0 ... Sept.2006 for LINUX
Installation Instructions:
Untar the "ime_v4_0_linux.tar" file in a subdirectory (name recommended: "ime_v4_0").
To execute IME, write in the prompt of a terminal window: "./run_ime" (this file must have running permissions activated) .

THE LINUX VERSION HAS BEEN TESTED ONLY WITH LINUX SUSE, BUT IT IS EXPECTED THAT IT WILL RUN CORRECTLY WITH ANOTHER UNIX SYSTEMS WITH THE CORRECT 5.0 JVM INSTALLED.

NOTE:
To accomplish the minimum validation requirements from ISO19139 schema, a lot of modifications have been incorporated to the 4.1 version (XML attributes edition, XML content included in the metadata values with the editor, etc...)

So, the lower to 4.0 IME versions must be completely substituted for this new IME 4.1 release.

If you have been working with IME 4.0, the best way of moving to the 4.1 version, is proceeding to the IME 4.1 installation in a new directory and copying from the 4.0 installation directory the data files (XML, XSLT, HTML, Profiles and Templates) to the new IME 4.1 directory.
